I used to wish that I lived a more “normal” life, or even a boring life. What if I grew up in a family that took beach vacations? What if my parents were businesspeople working nine-to-five jobs?
Fortunately, that’s not my story. Instead, I was raised by two professional musicians alongside my world-changing sister. “Vacations” consisted of travelling with our parents as they connected with musicians and missionaries around the globe. We visited concentration camps before Disney World, ate shark air bladder, slept on hay-tick mattresses, and experienced different cultures first-hand.
Turns out that I just wasn’t destined to be “normal” (who is?). But I find myself so thankful for early exposure to poverty and different ways of living.
It’s opened my eyes to valuing simplicity, the earth, and the uniqueness of the people around me.
“Magnificent” is a childhood nickname (I was a dramatic child…). But it’s also a motivator. Magnificence is overwhelming and striking beauty. The earth is magnificent and something worth protecting. While there may be different opinions about environmental issues, reducing waste and living more sustainably will be better for future generations.
My hope is that this blog will be a space we can all learn together, so positive comments are welcomed.
Be Well. With Love.
